AFC Brookland’s Coach Receives National FA Award
01 October 2012
AFC Brookland’s coach Peter Croucher was formally presented with his South East Coach of the Year Award last week following his trip to St George’s Park.
Peter was named Surrey County FA Coach of the Year back in July and as a result was entered into the regional competition, where he triumphed against a selection of some of the South East’s most talented football coaches.
Peter has been with the club since it’s creation in 2006 and believes that all children – whatever age, gender or ability – should be able to enjoy football. He has completed all three FA Youth Award Modules as well as being an FA Licensed coach himself, while also mentoring six young coaches.
Steven Edwards from the Surrey County FA presented Peter with his Award along with AFC Brookland’s chairman Jez Taylor (pictured) during a training session at Addleston Rec.
Part of his prize for winning the Award was a trip to the FA’s new coaching HQ St George’s Park, where he delivered a 30 minute session under the watchful eye of Les Howie (FA Head of Grassroots Coaching) and Eric Harrison (former Manchester United Academy coach responsible for the likes of Ryan Giggs and David Beckham). Following the session, Peter received feedback and tips ready for him to pass on to his AFC Brooklands players.
