Match Reports:
22/01 Farncombe Falcons v AFC Brooklands Falcons
22/01 AFC Brooklands Falcons v Walton Casuals
With only seven
available today and with some what an injured Frankie Nolan
playing through the pain barrier AFC dug deep today to record
another win. With the game only just getting started Ethan
Fifield decided to run on the left flank through the Walton
defence and score two great goals in quick succession. One being
a special flick into the back of the net giving the goal keeper
no chance making the score 2-0 with only five mins played.
Walton made changes but AFC held fast with some
great passing play with Sam Havermans, Mees de Graaf and Jacob
Catlin providing a brick wall in defence whilst also setting up
Josh Reeve and Fifield on more attacking runs. With Nolan making
some darting runs through the Walton defence he found the chance
to let go a tremendous shot that the Walton keeper who could not
keep out which made it 3-0 just before the break.
With the 2nd half starting like the first half AFC battled hard
to keep the score at 3-0 with Dominic Harrop outstanding in goal
making 2 great saves keeping the score the same. With great
hearts and with both teams tiring in the later stages Fifield
slotted a pass to Reeve to score the fourth, passing low
shot past the keeper and ending a great game for AFC winning
4-0.
08/01 AFC Brooklands Falcons v Spelthorne Colts
18/12 Chertsey Town Stripes v AFC Brooklands Falcons
With Falcons only having a core seven today
it was up to all to give that bit extra. The team battled hard
but fatigue told in the end. It was AFC's superior positional
play and possession that saw them dominate the early part of the
game and create a number of chances, notably from Jamie Stanger,
Josh Reeve and Wilby Vincent. As the half moved on Frankie Nolan
and Ethan Fifield both went close. As AFC pressed for the
breakthrough they were caught out as Chertsey broke away and
scored making it 1-0 to the home side. Brooklands responded
quickly and scored 2 goals in quick succession. Firstly Fifield
equalised, then another Fifield run gave Nolan the chance to put
AFC in the lead as he netted from close range.
Chertsey started the 2nd half in determined fashion and pushed
AFC back, but with Dominic Harrop in determined mood, it was his
great brave saves on at least three occasions preserved AFC's
lead. With the game see-sawing from end to end it
was AFC who increased their lead. Stanger scoring a close
range goal after pressure from AFC's forwards forced errors in
the Chertsey defence.
Chertsey came back and continued to put pressure on the AFC
defence, but Jacob Catlin, Stanger and the backs held firm and
on the break AFC always looked dangerous. With no subs and a
heavy pitch the later stages of the game were always going to be
hard and tired legs would prove to be AFC's downfall.
As the team tired AFC began to lose their shape Chertsey scored
to claw back back to 3-2 and with extra belief went in search of
the equaliser, which duly came. AFC with their never give up
attitude and fine midfield play saw AFC get their noses in front
after another solo run from Fifield ended when he slide the ball
past the keeper in the closing moments to give AFC a well
deserve 4-3 lead. With time running out and AFC out on their
feet Chertsey levelled with the last kick of the game to salvage
a draw.
11/12 AFC Brooklands Falcons v Walton Casuals
AFC battled through a tough game but battled hard to register another win. With Falcons starting strongly with Jamie Stanger, Mees de Graaf and Josh Reeve going close. Midfield duo, Ethan Fifield and Reeve were dominating and their forward runs were creating chances from the wide areas. AFC took the lead when Fifield scored a great goal from the left side making it 1-0 just before the half time break. Upfront William Vincent and Frankie Nolan were causing the opposition defence problems and were looked like scoring, but it was Stanger who stepped up to get AFC's second, blasting in an unstoppable shot. As AFC went in search of number three Sam Havermans and de Graaf held firm in defence, but it was Dominic Harrop in the AFC goal whose saves keep the opposition out. Walton continued to press and got their goal from a free kick from outside the penalty area, but AFC held firm until the final whistle to secure the victory.
27/11 Woking Town Tigers v AFC Brooklands Falcons
Brooklands newest recruits had a good game today. With the
line up starting and our positional play
early chances fell to Mees and Josh with good positions from the
attackers. Ethan Fifield started the scoring early with a good
passing shot past the keeper to make it 1-0 from his favourite
left side.
Pressure from the Falcons continued with Josh and Frankie putting
shot after shot forcing the Tigers to score an own goal which
concluded the first half at 2-0 to the visitors. This was achieved with
Dominic Harrop having made some good saves as the half came to a
close.
Half time changes saw Jacob Catlin and Wilby Vincent take charge
on the right side. Mees de Graaf moved into midfield on
the left side and showed his flexibility in an attacking role.
With
Sam Havermans hooking up on a left hand side AFC worked well and
continued to look dangerous.
With pressure mounting, Vincent, from centre back, decided to
surge forward and scored 2 great goals in succession making the
score 4-0. With a quick change around later in the half the
Falcons were hungry for more. Fifield and Jamie Stanger were
introduced back into the game and with fine runs from Frankie
Nolan and a Maradona style run from Fifield, Josh Reeve scored
AFC's fifth from a great cross.
AFC piled more pressure on the Tigers and AFC's final goal was
drilled past the keeper for 6-0.
With probably tougher games ahead the Falcons are looking like a
force to be reckoned with as their passing game continues to improving.
20/11 AFC Brooklands Falcons v Chertsey Town Stripes
AFC Falcons continued their current good form with an impressive win over Chertsey. In a very close opening both side were struggling to gain control, although AFC looked dangerous on the back with the pace of Josh Reeve and Frankie Nolan giving the defenders plenty to think about. As the half moved on AFC grew in confidence and were looking most likely to lead and so it proved as Ethan Fifield broke free to score. Brave saves from James Howard and a goal line headed clearance from Mees de Graaf made sure AFC went in at half time with a one goal lead. The second half was as even as the first with Nolan, now saving them instead of scoring them, called into action. Sam Havemans and Jacob Catlin were working hard in the midfield and keeping Chertsey at bay while setting up the forwards with chances. The result was secured though as James Howard poked a toe at the loose ball after Fifield's corner was not cleared and Josh Reeve made it three as he raced in to score from close range. A good effort from all the players and an impressive team performance.
06/11 Staines Town Jnrs Colts v AFC Brooklands Falcons
The Falcons earned their first victory today with all the
enthusiasm from last weeks friendly.
Ethan Fifield started the scoring, darting down the left flank
to blast a left foot shot pass the goal keeper into the bottom
right hand corner. This early goal spurred on the rest with Josh
Reeve and Frankie Nolan taking up some great attacking
positions. Their darting runs into the Staines defence were
rewarded when Reeve scored his first goal, shooting across the
Staines defence to make it 2 0.
The Josh Reeve, Ethan Fifield, Frankie Nolan partnership ended
with Nolan scoring the third after great support play and pass
from Jacob Catlin. His pass to Reeve, who played in Fifield to
set up Nolan who netted. It was not all one way traffic as
Staines came back and scored a good goal and it could of been
more but for Dominic Harrop producing some good saves to keep
the score at 3-1.
Two half time substitutes, William Vincent, making a return to
AFC up front, and Sam Havermans joining Mees de Graaf in defence
gave the back line a strong Dutch feel. AFC though took the same
attitude as in the first half with Fifield scoring his 2nd and
in quick succession captain Jamie Stanger moved out of defence
to score his first great goal for AFC. With the teams now tiring
a spell of domination from Staines saw Havermans and Stanger
busy but they held strong allowing Reeve to take his tally to
two goals. A goal from Vincent and Fifield completing his hat
trick with an excellent solo run to score making it 7 -1!
Staines finished the day with a consolation goal as the last
kick of the game to make it 7-2. A great game boys with good
attitude and passes seen by all
06/11 Chertsey Town Whites v AFC Brooklands Falcons
AFC's newest side took to the field for their first game verses a Chertsey side form a higher division. With all new teams it's hard to know how they will blend, but the coaching staff need not have worried as the players put in a creditable performance. From the first whistle AFC set about Chertsey and were winning plenty of possession in midfield. Their defensive line of Sam Havermans, Jamie Stanger and Mees de Graaf looked as though they had been playing together for ever with Stanger's organising skills and tough tackling setting the tone for the others around him. At the other end Frankie Nolan was proving a handful for the Chertsey defence and he was seeing plenty of the ball from midfielders Josh Reeve and Jacob Catlin. AFC were growing in confidence and Nolan went close after being put through by Havermans' pass. A last ditch tackle at the other end from Stanger saved the day and a point blank save from Dominic Harrop, from the resulting corner kick, kept the score even. With half time approaching Chertsey caught the AFC defence out and took the lead scoring past Harrop's brave effort to save.
The second half continued as the first with both side pressing. AFC went close when Reeve broke clear only to see his shot deflect off the keepers outstretched leg. AFC then fell foul of the elements. The freshening wind behind the opposition helping two in swinging corners into the net. AFC's grit and determination was only heightened and their reward was not far away. Reeve broke through again and was felled as he went to shoot. Mees de Graaf stepped up to take the free kick and rifled a left foot screamer into the top corner from 20yards. A brilliant effort from all the players who can be very proud of themselves.
